How to enable push notifications
Find the Notifications section
Scroll down to the Notifications section. You’ll see a toggle at the top of the section.
Turn on notifications
Tap the toggle to enable notifications. Your browser displays a permission prompt asking whether to allow Wrk It to send you notifications.
Browser and device requirements
Push notifications work on the following platforms:- Chrome, Edge, and Firefox on desktop (Windows, macOS, Linux) and Android
- Safari on macOS (version 16 and later)
- iOS and iPadOS — see the note below
What happens after you enable notifications
Once permission is granted:- Wrk It registers a push subscription tied to your account and device.
- Your reminder schedule is synced to the backend so reminders fire at the times you set, even after you close the app or restart your browser.
- Wrk It’s background process receives each reminder and displays the notification on your device, even when the app isn’t open.
- Notifications show the title Wrk It Reminder and a message prompting you to complete your habit. Tapping the notification opens the app.
Troubleshooting
Notifications are enabled in Wrk It but never appear- Check that your browser hasn’t blocked notifications for the site. In Chrome, open Settings → Privacy and security → Site settings → Notifications and confirm Wrk It is in the Allowed list. In Firefox, open Settings → Privacy & Security → Permissions → Notifications.
- Make sure your operating system’s notification settings allow your browser to show notifications. On macOS, go to System Settings → Notifications and verify your browser is enabled. On Windows, open Settings → System → Notifications and check your browser.
- On iPhone or iPad, confirm you installed Wrk It to your Home Screen before granting permission. If you enabled notifications from a Safari tab first, remove the permission in Settings → Safari → Advanced → Website Data, install the app to your Home Screen, and then re-enable notifications inside the app.
